DIY- Batty Sun Hat.

Hello everyone and welcome to today's blog post! Recently I picked up this plain sun hat in Penneys as the weather had been really really warm. For some reason the black version of this hat is really expensive to buy everywhere lately so I opted for this one instead. I soon got bored of its plain appearance and so decided to jazz it up with some bats! I drew the bat, cut it out with a craft knife and used it as a stencil. It took a few tries to get a usable stencil but overall it was was fairly quick and easy, surprisingly so!

Black fabric paint, paintbrushes and a thingy for pouring the paint into!

BAT! Bat bat bat.

I used the one stencil for the whole thing and once I was careful not to transfer any of the black around, it worked perfectly! I used masking tape to secure it each time I painted a new bat. Its not perfect and the paint ran a bit but I'm really pleased with how it turned out!

I replaced the brown string around the rim with this piece of black lace as a finishing touch.

Haz halo of bats now!

Outfit post!

Hey everyone this is a short post showing an outfit I wore a while back that I really liked! I enjoy a dressy casual kinda style most of the time and I was really pleased with this simple look.

The top and necklace are both from New Look, the belt is from a magazine years ago, the shorts are from Pennys and the boots are my usual Docs (I'll be buried in these things). I wasn't feeling the makeup vibe so I kept it fairly simple.

I really love the sleeves on this top! Swishy swishy.

The belt worked much better than I expected, sometimes these waist belts can look a bit strange I find. This came with a magazine though, how cool is that. It's ancient and the silver is faded but I've never been able to find a suitable replacement.

This choker is gorgeous, I reeally love it. I think it goes well with the style of top!

Recently I have been LOVING this cover of The Cure's A Forest by Clan of Xymox. I think COX may be my favourite but my favourite changes all the time anyway so who knows. They are definitely some of my most played. I've also been playing a lot of Joy Division lately especially at night when I'm drawing and the house is quiet. I've been so excited about music recently!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this little post!

Tintern Abbey + Two YT Videos!

Hello everyone and welcome to today's blog post!

Recently I took myself away to the gorgeous Tintern Abbey and while I was there I took some photos and recorded some footage for you. I had a headache that day from the thundery weird weather we'd been having and so I wanted to do something positive with the day to make myself feel better. A walk around the abbey and the grounds in the fresh air for a few hours was just what I needed.

The Abbey is said to have been founded in 1200 by a Norman Knight by the name of William Marshall. He was on his way to visit Ireland when he sailed into a storm and was almost shipwrecked! He prayed to god that if he survived the shipwreck he would found an abbey wherever he landed and when he landed in Co. Wexford, that's just what he did. He granted 3.500 hectares to the Cistercian order with which to establish the Abbey. Tintern Abbey is sometimes called the Tintern of the Vow for this very reason. Ownership of the Abbey passed through any hands over the years until it eventually became property of the government.

The walled gardens nearby were gorgeous too and I really enjoyed walking around in the fresh air! These Georgian style gardens were built in the early 19th century and have since been restored.

I filmed a vlog style video and an outfit video, I hope you enjoy!

What are some of your favourite things to do when you are feeling under the weather?

Until next time

Of Updates and Sparkly things!

Hello beautiful beautiful internet friends!

Some time has passed since my last post and so I thought I'd make an update post!  It has been warm and humid in the Emerald Isle for the last few weeks which has been quite the experience! I have been enjoying the warmer days I must admit but the more humid days have been a bit of a struggle. I have considerably more freckles now and have been enjoying time on the beach playing Frisbee and eating ice cream!

Dressing for the warm weather has been nice this year, probably the easiest its ever been. I feel more comfortable in shorts and summer appropriate clothes which helps a lot! I've been avoiding heavy jewellery and often wear little if any makeup. My eyes are very sensitive in summer and so eye makeup is often out of the question but I can't say I mind too much!

This is a look I wore today which I think was a success! On very warm days I would wear shorts and a strappy top of some kind but it was a bit overcast today so this worked well. The weather here is very changeable but I'm getting the hang of picking the right things to be comfortable in. I hope!

Look at the sparkles! So pretty and dressy whilst also suiting the temperature nicely.

Oh hai! Iz warm. Haz a sparkle. Hope you haz a sparkle too. K bye.

I wore these earrings earlier in the day too, they are nice and light and help me feel a bit dressed up without feeling weighed down!

One of my new Year's Resolutions was to get back into guitar and singing and so I recently picked up this second hand guitar! It is exactly what I was looking for and I've been so much happier in myself since I got it!

Just yesterday I took my camera for a walk and I took a few okish pictures but I'm fairly happy with this one. I was keeping an eye out for little eye catching details and noticed a feather caught in the rocks by the shore.

That's it for today's post, I have a few upcoming ones since I've been doing a few more interesting things lately!

Thanks so much for reading, I hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you are!

Red and Black Lace

Hello there gorgeous people of the blogosphere and welcome to today's post. I also want to give my new followers a big warm welcome, I hope you enjoy your time on my humble little corner of ye olde internetz.

This is an outfit post from today featuring one of my favourite combinations ever-lace and something red. I really love how a red top looks underneath a lace top layer, it always reminds me of vampires!

My make-up was simple as I've not been bothered with eye-liner as much lately. Red lips to match the top!

I broke out my 90's choker for the occassion too, I don't wear it that much because I have somewhat of a short thick neck (developing traps don't help) but with a lower cut top it balances out! Also wearing my sparkly kitty necklace, look at that sparkliness. Hell yeah. Riaow!

I am in love with these turquoise earrings that I got recently!  Been enjoying adding some colour into things latelyl

All the colours. This was a great bargain if you ask me!

I also want to start adding in the songs I've been listening to a lot lately so here is one that I just can't get enough of- Charlotte Sometimes by The Cure!

What have you been listening to lately? :)

Thank you so much for stopping by!

T-Shirt Makeover-Some Rare PhantomCat DIY!

One thing you won't see too often around these parts, is DIY. It's just not my thing but I was having a strange issue with this The Lost Boys t-shirt- white deodorant stains that just would.not.wash.out.

Or scrub out. No matter how violent and irate my scrubbing became. *shakes fist*

This is such a good quality well made and epic t-shirt that I decided to breathe some new life into it by following a system I have tried on a few other t-shirts over the years (a lot of fails in there). I cut out the collar and cut off the arms in such a way as to just cut off the white stains! I then laddered the back to make it fit better and though it didn't really go according to plan, it's like 90% what I wanted so feck it!

I hate this part the most- cutting these lines into the back of the t-shirt. I have no patience. Takes forrreevvverrrr.

Really loving how it turned out and will probably be wearing this a lot!

I like the pop of colour with the red cami underneath!

What about you guys? Do you like to modify clothing when it gets too tatty? Do you have a lot of patience for that kind of thing?

Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time,

Monochrome! Plus another YT video.

Hey everyone! Welcome to today's blog post, I hope you are all well!

Last weekend I finally got around to wearing this black and white skirt! I've had it for ages but hadn't worn it before now, I was unsure of it since the print is very loud and I was worried it would make me look disproportionate but then I decided screw it and wore it anyway. I got it because it reminded me of The Cabinet of Dr Caligari with the design!

This was the makeup! I've been wearing more eye-liner lately, I usually just do the top lash line but lately I've been doing the entire eye and I really like the effect with the blonde hair. My roots do need to be done but I also quite like the grown out look too.

I also recorded a really short little video to go with this post! I really like doing videos every now and again, I quite enjoy editing them and adding music! Enjoy.

Thank you so much for reading,

Black and Purple plus YouTube Video

Welcome to another Sunday blog post!

I recently bought some really dark purple lipstick without realising just how dark it was. Once I tried it out I immediately got so excited because its exactly the type of shade that I have always wanted, dark and purple without being too dark. I decided to put together a simple plain black outfit around it with these tights I haven't had the chance to wear yet and a purple necklace to match.

I also recorded a video to go with it! Enjoy.

Love these tights.

Simple cat eye and this amazing lipstick. It's matte but I got used to the feel within minutes and it didn't dry out my lips at all. Very happy with that.

I am beyond cool. Ja.

Here is my video! I chose the song because I was listening to it as I did my makeup! Clan of Xymox are a fantastic band, I love their sound.

Thanks so much for reading everyone.

Textures and Colour

Hello everyone!

Last week I put together an outfit and make-up look that I was really pleased with! My sister got me some awesome lipsticks and I came up with a look surrounding the red lipstick in the set, does anyone else plan their outfits the night before? In college I used to lay out my clothes and accessories for the next day, I like to be organised!

I kept the eyes simple with a cat eye and  I also painted my nails red for the ultimate matchy matchy effect.

I wanted to wear this cut out crop top that I love so much- a wet look skater skirt and patterned tights seemed like the perfect match!

My red watch made an appearance! Red and black was the order of the day.

I wore my usual doc martens and Winter friendly outerwear but thats not very exciting!

Thats it for today's blog post, thanks for reading,
Rebecca

Outfit and Art!

Hello lovely reader and welcome to Sunday's post!

This will be a short outfit and make-up post along with a photo of my latest drawing! This was taken last weekend, the weather was really bright which made me think of wearing... *le gasp*... white! Shocking. It's just shocking- the goth girl wearing colour! Hehehe.

I was very happy with my makeup (I say that every week, my skills are limited so I just do the same thing all the time hah). I overdrew my lips with a nude lip liner which is why I have that silly pout in these two photos, I couldn't help it! Also I am growing my hair and it is starting to get longer which I am very pleased about, aiming for shoulder length hair as I miss my curls. Hope it doesn't take forever!

Simple smoky eye and winged eyeliner! Just look at those lengths of hair on the left though, finally growth!

I have no idea why I look so smug in this photo... This was my outfit of choice, super comfy! Quite colourful by my standards.

These are the cat ears I wear when I do my make-up to keep my hair out of my face! Love these things. I wore them out a few times and got miaowed at by strange men in Dublin so I stopped doing that. True story.

The light in my room sucks in Winter so it has been damn near impossible to draw for probably two months. I have a daylight lamp on the way BUT we got some decent sun lately so here is what I came up with. Pretty pleased with how it came out. I have since bought an A3 sketch pad as A2 is very limiting in terms of how much detail you can fit in.

I am glad that Spring will be coming soon so there is more light, I love Halloween and Christmas and Winter but they can be very restricting months in so many ways.

Do you prefer the Winter or Summer months? Does the Winter gloom get you down or do you thrive around this time of year?

Outfit Post!

Hey everyone and welcome to today's blog post!

The weather has been so miserable lately and the lighting has been pretty bad which makes getting a good outfit post quite difficult but I got some photos of a recent look that I put together! Its a simple burgundy crop jumper and black printed pencil skirt. I added a simple black flower in my hair, did a smoky eye and chose a lip colour that complimented the jumper. It was all hidden away under a bit coat and scarf but that's Winter for you!

Very pleased with how this simple lookcame together, I've been really into lipsticks lately. I was an eye-shadow and eye-liner gal for so long! I never used to wear anything on my lips which makes me cringe a bit when I look back, I always look so unfinished in old photos.

This is a close up of the jumper I was wearing, its pretty much my favourite jumper. I love the depth it has with the black running through it.

My favourite black hair flower!

That's it for today's blog post! Do you guys have any trusty pieces of clothing or accessories that always seem to save the day? For me it's definitely hair flowers and scarves! Let me know in the comments!

New Year's Thoughts

Well, a new year has begun and I feel quite relieved about that. 2015 was not a bad year but it was a slow year in many ways, I spent a lot of it finding my feet which was a slow process and I wish I was there already. Building oneself up after a lot of difficulties is a lengthy process and sometimes feels like you are going backwards but here we are on the first day of 2016 and things are considerably more open and positive for the future!

2015 Highlights

1) Starting to blog again even though I am painfully inconsistent with it. I am getting back to being more myself again and having this blog as an outlet really helped with that. Thank you all for reading and commenting xxx

2) Fixing my squat after serious hip pain for months. Last proper working session had me on 75kg for 5x3 which is a huge deal for me. That took a lot of persistence and many many tears.

3) Getting my 100kg deadlift and 50kg bench press. Major goals!

4) Starting my personal training business, very excited for 2016!

5) Starting to draw and do photography again.

6) Getting back to giving fewer fucks- life is just better that way.

2015 Major Lessons Learned

People flippantly say things that can sit with you for a long time because they are unhappy with themselves and their lives. Or they may simply be ignorant and clueless.  It truly reflects more on them than it ever will on you.

Someone said to me this year- If you have a talent and you do nothing with it then you are being selfish because talents are often there to bring positive things to the world and to share with others. Bring yourself into it less and just think about putting energy into the world.

Its ok to be unconventional, creative and a bit odd.

2016 Goals

1) Get our business off the ground and start making a difference in people's lives.

2) Start doing something with singing because I like it.

3) Squat 100kg, bench 60kg and deadlift 120kg. That would be a squat of just over 1.5x bodyweight, a 1x bodyweight bench press and a 2x bodyweight deadlift. That will require some serious training and work but I aim to do it by December 31st 2016.

4) Keep drawing. I really especially like drawing because it totally shuts my brain off from the outside world which is quite the feat. I just need to remember to take breaks for food and things like that. I can easily go 4/5 hours at it thinking I have only been there for an hour.

5) Continue giving fewer fucks! Encourage others to do the same. Put positive energy into the world and be happy!

What about you guys? What were your highlights and/or lessons of 2015? Do you have any New Year's Resolutions or things you just want to achieve this year?

Rebecca.
